Alpha’s first production release runs at https://alpha.new. New lists what Alpha does. If you used Alpha before this release, Improved and Fixed list what changed for you.
New
- Every session runs its own agent, Codex or Claude Code, on its own machine, with the agent’s commands, plans and edits streaming beside a live Preview.
- A turn can run for up to 48 hours (default), and it keeps running after you close the tab.
- Ask for an agent and Alpha builds it, draws it on the Agent tab, and proves it with a live model run.
- Try it on the Agent tab’s canvas bar runs your agent’s whole flow on an input you give it and lights up each step as it goes.
- The Evals tab tests your agent on test cases for each persona and situation, and Fix with Alpha hands a failure back to the agent.
- A built-in skill guides the agent when you ask for something people talk to by voice, in the browser or over the phone.
- After you confirm what will be served, the agent publishes your app under the name you choose, which becomes its address.
- Once an app is live, the Production Logs and Production Metrics tabs show its log lines, requests, errors, latency and resource use.
- The Published row in the sidebar lists every app and API published from your sessions, with its state and address.
- A routine runs a command or an agent turn on a timetable, at most once every 15 minutes (default), even when nobody has the session open.
- Connectors, MCP servers and GitHub share one Integrations catalog, and the agent can ask you to connect a service with a card in the transcript.
- Global secrets reach every session you own, and a session’s Secrets tab adds secrets only that session gets.
- When the agent needs a key, it posts a card instead of asking for it in a message, and Add opens the Secrets form with the name filled in.
- Continue with Google and Continue with Microsoft sign you in to Alpha, and an address outside the allow-list waits for an admin.
- Apps you build get sign-in of their own from the Auth tab, with the users who signed in and a way to revoke them.
- Where a picture reads better than prose, the agent draws its answer as tables, charts, maps, sliders, checklists or quizzes, and formulas show as typeset math.
- Built-in viewers open PDFs, images, HTML, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, CSV, Excalidraw and BPMN, and a
.texfile compiles to a PDF beside it. - Right-click a file in the file tree to download it, up to 32 MB, or a folder as a
.tar.gzof up to 500 MB, and search the tree by path. - The Preview has Back and Forward for the app’s own history, and a Logs panel with the browser console and each server’s output.
- Click the mic to dictate in any language, and the composer receives the text in English.
- ⌘K (Ctrl on Windows and Linux) searches your sessions by title and by what was said in them.
- Seven chips under the home composer, from Apps to Research, suggest concrete prompts to start from.
- Text you type in a composer stays in this browser until you send it, so a reload or a switch of session no longer loses it.
Improved
- “Deploy” is now Publish in the workbench, and a live app shows a green tick with Republish as the main button.
- A message you send while the agent works is queued or steered, and the Settings page sets which one Enter does.
- Up to 20 messages queued messages, the plan’s step line, sub-agents, connect requests and secret requests now share one tray above the composer.
- Each run of reasoning and tool calls folds into one summary row, such as “3 commands · 5 searches · 4 thoughts”, that opens its details.
- Published, Skills, Routines and Integrations now sit under Search in the sidebar, and each session’s ⋯ menu holds Pin, Rename, Move to group and Delete.
- Your session groups are saved to your account, so they follow you to every device.
- Usage, Settings, Global secrets, Setups and Sign in with ChatGPT/Claude moved to the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar, and the permissions chip is gone.
- A session’s tabs come back as you left them after a reload, and while the machine wakes they show a loading skeleton instead of an error.
- A long session opens on its newest turns and loads older ones as you scroll up, so it shows sooner.
- The Skills page opens on Explore, with a catalog you can order by Most popular, Newest, A–Z or By category.
- You can switch off any skill that ships with Alpha in your own sessions, built-in skills included.
- Chat attachments can be up to 256 MB per file (default), and images over 15 MB reach the agent as files.
- Masking no longer hides plain email addresses, web addresses without a credential, or everyday values such as production and localhost.
- If a secret your app uses has been deleted, Republish now stops before anything goes live and names the missing secret.
- The admin dashboard’s Users and Sessions tabs load 50 at a time, with search and filters run on the server.
Fixed
- A session no longer loses its machine, and the work done since it last slept, when Alpha briefly loses track of the machine during maintenance.
- A new version of Alpha no longer interrupts your work: a running turn carries on on another server, and an interrupted publish or setup build starts over.
- Turns no longer fail when a reasoning model is silent for more than two minutes.
- Sign-in and redirects now work inside the Preview, and pages on other sites, such as Stripe Checkout, open in their own window and return.
- Starting the database no longer opens the Preview on the database’s port, and no longer races the machine’s own setup.
- Pen marks on a captured Preview now land where you drew them on high-density screens.
- The repository picker lists every repository in your GitHub installations, not only the oldest hundred.
- An image the agent embeds in its answer from the session’s files now shows inline and opens in the image viewer.
- Decks already in a session’s files no longer open by themselves the first time you load the session.
- Codex’s own retry notices while a model stream reconnects, such as “Reconnecting… 1/5”, no longer show as red error cards of raw JSON.
